In 2006 Monkee Genes was created out of frustration, an industry that was and still is, having a huge impact on the environment. We wanted to offer something fresh and timeless, with an eco and ethical conscience.

Monkee Genes was born to ensure from the beginning, any jean produced provided a living wage for all involved and good working conditions. Along the road we have continued to learn how we can minimise our impact on the earth, while creating great denim for you. Fast forward to 2022, we are reflecting on our journey so far, what we have learned and the work we still must do, in continuingly difficult times for the world.

Some FAQs!

Are your jeans recycled or second hand?

Our jeans are made from recycled fabric from old jeans. The processes used makes the jeans fresh and new, whilst using recycled fibres to reduced waste.

What dyes do you use, are they toxic?

Our dyes are non-toxic meaning that they are safe for everyone involved in the supply chain and the end customer.

Are your products vegan?

Yes, all our products are vegan. Our back patches are made from Jacron – a unique paper material with a leather-like look. It withstands industrial washes, passes needle detectors, does not tear, and most importantly is a vegan, more sustainable alternative to leather or plastic.
