Introducing... Beyond Retro Label!

fashion revolution new collections new designers shop news slow fashion vintage winter style

We are SO excited to have Beyond Retro Label on board here at Godiva!

We're all massive fans of the Beyond Retro stores, making pilgrimages there whenever we go down to London. So when Fleur found their reworked label, Label, at a trade show, we knew that we just had to get their pieces in store.

The first shipment arrived late on Friday afternoon and we worked super hard to get everything checked, priced, steamed and hung ready for the weekend's shoppers! It turned out to be just the most ideal timing as the cord skirts, cosy cropped jumpers and awesome camo bomber jackets are perfect for that back-to-school style... and this weekend was when all the Edinburgh students have moved back in!

I know you'll just love the story behind Beyond Retro Label too. Each year, the team sort through 42 million kilograms of clothing - that is a lot of discarded dresses! They look for quality vintage pieces for their stores, as well as awesome patterns and fabrics that can be reworked for Label. This means that around 600,000 garments are saved from landfill each year.

Beyond Retro Label works with 85 artisans in India to perfect 200 prototypes each year and turn some of those 600,000 rescued garments into trend-driven, modern, wearable new pieces. Old, discarded pieces are fully deconstructed to save as many scraps of fabric, trimmings and bits of hardware as possible, then cropped, chopped, tapered and reconstructed into something entirely new.

Saving the environment one jumper at a time - that's something we can get behind!

We currently have colourful cord skirts, chunky cropped jumpers, pussybow cropped blouses and the most amazing camo bomber jackets complete with super cool patches in store. Each piece is a complete one of a kind, refashioned from vintage clothing, so once it's gone it's gone! Pop in store to try on a Beyond Retro Label garment, or keep an eye on our Instagram, Facebook or Twitter as we reveal the full collection.
